June 13th-15th - South East Custom and Classic Show Report
We had a really good weekend at the South East Custom and Classic Show in June. After a week of very late nights/early mornings preparing the BoneShaker for the show, it was a relief for the weekend to have finally arrived
We arrived early on Friday afternoon. Jeff had already
dropped the caravan off the night before (after being stuck on the A249 for over
2 hours - another reason for a late night!) so when he arrived all he had to do
was work out where the drag cars were going. About an hour later the transporter
arrived with the BoneShaker and Mick Payne's new Pro Mod Camaro. Once they had
been retrieved from the A299 layby opposite the show field (the directions
weren't as good as we thought!) we got them unloaded and proceeded to set up the
awnings.
Later in the day Alec and Tom Coe (Mad R's Racing) arrived with their slingshot dragster "Shy Talker", and on Saturday afternoon Laurie Craig and his crew arrived with their VW Beetle Funny Car. Sunday show day promised to be a noisy display!
We couldn't believe our luck with the weather; Sunday morning
gave us beautiful blue sky and sunshine, all ready for the public to arrive. A
number of past Mitchville Customers came down to the show for the day and parked
up on our stand. Lee and Leslie Tubby parked up the '46 Ford Rod we flamed at
christmas time, Rob Knibbs arrived, albeit missing a couple of wheel nuts, with
his "Mitchville Black" Chevy powered Capri. Later in the day Adam Wallis arrived
with his VW Bora which we had recently painted up a set of wheels for and
repaired and resprayed the bootlid.
All in all it was an excellent weekend, big thanks to the BHRA and Invicta Roadsters for all their hard work in setting it all up, and letting us be loud again! Special thanks to Paul and Vicky, who supplied us with teabags, sustenance and fantastic company. We look forward to next year, hopefully with a noisy drag car of our own!
